Dr. Udo Schmitt About me: After my doctorate in theoretical chemistry at TU Darmstadt, I continued my research during a three-year post-doc stay at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City (USA). Then I had the opportunity to work in Silicon Valley as a Java developer or consultant at the software consulting company Silicon Age Inc. After the dotcom bubble burst, in 2002 I was able to transfer my skills to the field of bioinformatics at the German biotech start-up company EPIDAUROS AG. I then turned back to basic research as a research assistant at the Ruhr University in Bochum and from 2004 as head of a research group at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen.
