About The Role
We are looking for a Specialist Business Development who is a self-motivated and organised individual to contribute towards projects and activities that support the Business and Contracting regional standard under the Regional Framework Deed (RFD). A key function will be maintaining partnership with internal and external stakeholders and other indigenous bodies, Pilbara and other Indigenous Businesses and government organisations.
This role is a great opportunity for a self-starter who has a passion for collaboration, innovation, and relationship management. Reporting to the Principal Advisor Regional Framework Deed (RFD), you will
Develop and maintain a favourable relationship with local and regional communities, and actively participating in regional forums;
Support the implementation of a strategy to progress commitments made under Rio Tinto’s agreements with Pilbara Traditional Owners, in line with the Rio Tinto Procurement Standards and the RFD;
Identify opportunities for Indigenous Business engagement and support internal and external parties to enter meaningful engagement with Indigenous Businesses;
In collaboration with external agencies, support the development of Indigenous Businesses to ensure the sector is sustainable and diverse. ;
Support partnerships with Traditional Owners and other stakeholders, such as government and non-government agencies and academic institutions to progress key priority projects;
Assist with project managing these identified projects through to completion and ensure effective communication strategies are employed;
Undertake activities to maintain compliance with legal and other commitments, aligned with company policies and standards.
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
Relevant tertiary degree in either business, commerce, law, education or community development.
Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of economic development and capacity building.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with demonstrated proficiency across a wide variety of audiences and constituencies.
Contract interpretation exposure, particularly related to Tenders, Expression of Interests and negotiation.
Ability to multitask, prioritise and organise a number of concurrent projects under tight time pressure.
It will also be beneficial if you have
Experience working in the mining & metals / extraction sectors.
Grant applications and other leveraging opportunities.
Good understanding of Aboriginal communities and groups.
