Your role:
You’ll start your career in Navy fully qualified in your profession but through Navy’s specialised training you’ll gain many more skills. The work you’ll do is rewarding, and will make a difference to the lives of the people who serve Australia.
As a Generalist, adult Medical/Surgical, Perioperative, Intensive Care or Emergency Nurse, you'll serve in a variety of well-equipped Defence facilities and regularly work alongside your Army and Air Force colleagues, in Australia and overseas.
This role will enable you to use your skills and resolve to provide expert care in unique environments and with a large degree of autonomy in practice. When at home or on operations, you will provide primary health care, triage and specialist skills to Defence personnel. You may also have the opportunity to maintain clinical skills through employment in civilian hospitals (dependent on unit requirements).
Throughout your career, you will be taught leadership and management skills, enabling you to lead, manage and provide career guidance to junior personnel in your division.
This is a challenging role where you'll get to apply your practical and professional skill sets in a novel environment. You'll be supported by a tight-knit team, both at sea and ashore.
The Navy provides its Nurses opportunities for expansion of their skills into other specialised health areas.
